With the holiday season coming up, I have been working on a couple of quick and easy Christmas-themed crafts the last few weeks. These Christmas crochet projects are also perfect for stash busting and the chilling in front of the TV.

Read on to find out more about the free patterns I used and modifications I made to make these Christmas crochet projects!

Crochet Santa Hat

The santa hat is modified from a free crochet pattern by Planet June. I made some modifications to the pattern by June.

Modifications to crochet santa hat

  • Make sc all around after rounds 5, 10, and 15 to increase the length of the hat

  • Make a circle as wide as the bottom of the hat, attach circle to hat and stuff before sewing shut

  • Attach hair pin to the bottom

Santa hat with a little gap at the bottom between the hat and the bottom circle. Stuffing on the side consists of yarn scraps and felt scraps.

I used yard scraps and felt scraps from this project to stuff the hat

Crochet Holly

My holly brooch and hair pins are made using the free crochet pattern from Oombawka Design. I made no modifications to the pattern.

To make the holly more sturdy as a brooch and pin, I cut and glued green felt backing to the back of the holly leaves, then attached the brooch pin and hair clip.

I think these holly brooches go really well with my knitted cardigan. What do you think?

I know the holiday season this year is going to be quite different from previous years. But these little Christmas crochet projects gave me a lot of joy while I worked on them. Are you also crafting for the holidays?

What have you been working on for the holiday season?
