My 3 Sewing Projects With Laminated Cotton

DISCLAIMER: This post contains gifted fabric given in exchange for a blog post on Minerva. However, this post is not sponsored by Minerva.

About a year ago, Minerva gifted me some lovely laminated cotton for a sewing project in exchange for a post. I made the Raspberry Rucksack and really liked the look of this haphazard polka dots! With some remnant yardage left, I knew I simply could not let them go to waste. Here are my 3 sewing projects made with this laminated cotton fabric!

The Raspberry Rucksack

As mentioned, my main sewing project made with this laminated cotton is the Raspberry Rucksack by Sarah Kirsten. I made the bigger version which only requires 3/4" yard of the laminated cotton for the outer shell. The lining used for this bag is a polycotton.

The Rain Hat

My second project made with this laminated cotton is a rain hat. This rain hat is made using one of the free sewing patterns I shared in my previous post. The lining of this hat is a plain black polycotton fabric.

The Zipper Pouch

While I could have stopped at having 2... I couldn't! After making the rucksack and the rain hat, I used the remaining laminated cotton to make a little zipper pouch to make it a more complete set! My idea to make a zipper pouch came about when I decided to replace a gifted pouch that was really starting to wear out.

This little zipper pouch was used for storing my everyday essentials like house keys and apartment block access card. This storage strategy really helped me to find things easily in my bag. Unsurprisingly, the pouch started wearing out after close to 2 years of daily use.

To reduce waste, I also saved the zipper from the original gifted pouch to make my new pouch. The lining of the pouch is made using a polyester fabric found in my stash.

I made my new zipper pouch by following the video tutorial by Yi Fann (JapaneseSewingBooks). If you prefer a step-by-step sewing tutorial, you can also check out the simple zipper pouch photo tutorial by Melissa (Melly Sews).

Remnant Rescue

I am so glad I managed to make full use of the remnants and acquired a total of 3 sewing projects with this laminated cotton. Are you Team Remnant Rescue like me? What are your favourite remnant sewing projects?
