I Made A Retro 60's Daisy Hat 🌼

Here is another instalment of my Petal Hat Sewalong series! As part of the #PetalHatSewalong, my friend Wendy (@bbreath.designs) and I also wanted to share variations of the basic Petal Hat pattern. We wanted to give you ideas on how to hack this sewing pattern and make something uniquely yours. For my version, I made a retro 60's daisy hat inspired by a vintage sewing pattern from the 1960's.

My 1960's inspiration

My inspiration came from this sweet, vintage 1968 sewing pattern - the Simplicity 7977. This is a sewing pattern for a set of hats for children. Even though I don't own a copy of this vintage sewing pattern, I knew I could hack the original draft of my Petal Hat pattern and recreate the yellow daisy hat on the top right corner of the envelope easily.

I made this retro 60's daisy hat with a quilting weight yellow gingham. The daisy accent is made from a 1/4" satin polyester ribbon and fake daisy flowers. If you are interested, you can check out my sewing vlog for this hat on my Youtube channel here 😊😊😊
